Been There, Done That

So, I have refrained from posting for a while because I haven't had much of anything thoughtful to write but also because time has been hard to come by lately. Anyway, one of my very favorite passages in Scripture is Hebrews 4:14-16 and it discusses Jesus has being our "High Priest." It also speaks to us coming before his throne with confidence. Sometimes I feel like such a wretch that coming before the throne of Christ seems like a task that is impossible. And sometimes I feel that even if it were possible that Jesus would deny me any access because of the thoughts and deeds that I let creep into my life. When this feeling strikes all I need to do is think of the words Hebrews 4 tells me. First is that Jesus sympathizes with our weakness. He felt pain and temptation and even though he went through that he was without sin. Second is that we should have confidence when approaching the throne. This can only come by grace which is what Jesus' sacrifice gave to his people. We are justified before God and thus can come to him anytime any place! Lastly he promises that we will receive mercy that will help us in our time of need. God gives his word that we will be comforted and equipped to handle anything that is thrown at us. God is good and I pray that this message from Hebrews 4 will be a small encouragement in your faith.
